We are located in a little beautiful bay called Bahia Salinas on the Pacific Ocean in the northern point of Costa Rica. Part of the bay belongs to Nicaragua.

ROADS:

From S.Jose airport you have to take the Panamerican Highway (#1) or better the “Ruta 27” for saving time and drive north towards Peñas Blancas (the name of the Costa Rica/Nicaragua border), you’ll pass Liberia (3 hour driving) and then you’ll get to La Cruz (40 minutes driving), the last town before the border. Take a left to Bahia Salinas (the only paved road the goes to the beaches): you’ll drive 12 KMS until you get to the Blue Dream Hotel located on the left side of the road (there are several signs on the way). We are 60 mts. before the entrance of playa Papaturro.

If you arrive from the Guanacaste beaches, you have to get to Liberia anyway and then north following the instructions written above. For example, from playa del Coco is 1.5 hours driving and from Tamarindo area is 2 hours driving.

From Nicaragua: Once you cross Peñas Blancas border, you need to get to La Cruz (25 minutes by bus or car) and then follow the instructions written above

There is a local bus that travel between La Cruz and El Jobo (a little village in Bahia Salinas) that you can stop right in front of the Blue Dream after 25 minutes drive. This is the departure schedule from La Cruz: 5am, 8am, 2pm. It costs $1.50. Eventually a taxi costs $16

AIRPORTS:

The main airport is located in S. Jose’ (actually located in Alajuela, 30 minutes driving away): from there you are 5 hours away by bus or 4 hours by car from Bahia Salinas. We highly recommend to land in Liberia (LIR), the closest and other international airport of Costa Rica: this is only 1 hour and 10 minutes driving away and we can easily pick up and drop off you with a private transportation for $95 each way. From Liberia airport you can also take a local bus but it takes time cause you need to change it in Liberia and then in La Cruz, so it’s cheap but you can waste 3-4 hours total.

There are direct flights connecting different USA cities and Liberia (LIR).

Flights leave from Miami, Houston, Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York, Dallas, Charlotte Douglas and Chicago.

BUS:

The bus company that travel to La Cruz is called DELDU.

You can also wait the bus in Alajuela at La Radial bus station. It arrives around 30/40 minutes after its departure from San José and you can put your kite gear underneath the bus.

This is the bus schedule between San Jose and La Cruz always through Liberia:
